COVID-19 RESPONSE

AT IRBY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY our number one objective is always the health and safety of our employees, clients, and subcontractors. To that end, we have taken proactive measures over the past year regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This global situation is ever-evolving, and until the pandemic is over, our commitment to these efforts will remain the same. We will continue to work diligently, remain vigilant in our efforts to keep our team safe and to serve our clients to the very best of our ability.

We continue to communicate regularly with our staff, both in the corporate office and in the field, as regulations change and more vaccines become available.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How effective are COVID-19 vaccines? Should I be vaccinated? Where do I get one?

All COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the United States are effective at preventing COVID-19 as seen in clinical trial settings.

Research provides growing evidence that mRNA COVID-19 vaccines offer similar protection in real-world conditions.

COVID-19 vaccination is an important tool to help stop the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 vaccination helps protect people from getting sick or severely ill with COVID-19 and might also help protect people around them.

To receive the most protection, people should receive all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Some people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will still get sick because no vaccine is 100% effective. Experts continue to monitor and evaluate how often this occurs, how severe their illness is, and how likely a vaccinated person is to spread COVID-19 to others.

CDC recommends you get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as one is available to you. Vaccination sites can be found at: https://www.vaccines.gov/  You can also get a vaccination very easily at your local Walgreens or CVS Pharmacy as well as many other locations.

What are you doing to mitigate the risk of the spread of Coronavirus for field employees?

Face masks, sanitizing materials, and handwashing facilities are made readily available to employees. Employees have been trained on how to prevent the spread of the virus. Operational protocols are also being implemented, such as limiting the sharing of vehicles and meals, and social distancing. We continue to follow guidance from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control.

If you are unvaccinated and cannot maintain the 6-foot social distancing guidelines, you WILL BE required to wear a mask.  If you are vaccinated AND you voluntarily send a copy of your vaccination card to Amanda Lott in HR, you WILL NOT be required to wear a mask.  This policy is consistent with current CDC guidance and should be followed at all Irby work locations unless more stringent customer guidelines apply.

What are you doing to mitigate the risk of the spread of Coronavirus for subcontractors and partners?

Irby is tracking employees presenting with symptoms consistent with the Coronavirus. We are also tracking the results of anyone on our team who has been tested for the virus. In turn, we are reporting this information to contractors and partners who have been in contact with our team, so they can monitor their own health moving forward. Face masks, sanitizing materials and handwashing facilities are made readily available to employees. Employees are being trained actively on how to prevent the spread of the virus.

How is your work impacted by State issued orders?

As an electrical utility contactor working to construct, maintain, or repair the electrical infrastructure, Irby is considered Essential Businesses and Operations according to the definitions outlined in the orders issued thus far. As such, Irby projects currently underway will continue as planned.

If an order is issued to stay at home, our corporate office staff will transition to working at home as they have done on and off since the pandemic began.

How will Irby maintain business continuity during this time?

Irby Construction Company is a “First Responder” contractor, meaning we will continue work on our construction and maintenance projects as we have been only with a heightened emphasis on training and monitoring of our employees to ensure no one is sick; with plans in place if any employee has a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19.Those plans are:

  • In the event of a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19 among Irby employees, we would notify Quanta Services Corporate Safety and/or Risk Management, and they would activate their Crisis Management Team that includes members of Irby.
  • In the event of a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19 among Irby employees, we would immediately notify any client they may have had contact with at a job site, in an office or any other setting. We would also notify Quanta Services Corporate Safety and/or Risk Management, and they would activate their Crisis Management Team.
  • In the event of a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19 among Irby contractors and/or service providers, we would immediately notify any client they may have had contact with at a job site, in an office or any other setting. We would also notify Quanta Services Corporate Safety and/or Risk Management, and they would activate their Crisis Management Team.
What preventative measures are you taking at your corporate office?

Our team returned to working at headquarters over the summer of 2020. The office is following guidelines outlined in the Return to Work Playbook, and continues to follow social distancing guidelines and mask-wearing when social distancing is not an option.

Who do I contact for more information if my company is seeking specific documentation?

Vice President, Andre Foster is the primary contact for Coronavirus communication. He may be reached via email.
