On Monday, July 16, Irby rolled out the seventh video in its series featuring the “People of Irby.” In this clip, Greg Berry, Irby’s Director of Special Projects and Recruiting talks about how meaningful it is to be a lineman, and the many reasons it’s something to be proud of.

Irby’s 2018 Superintendents Meeting is a Success

The 2018 Irby Superintendents’ Meeting was held on May 23rd and 24th at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS. Irby President Lee Jones kicked off the meeting with a recap of 2017 and where we are headed in 2018. We heard from a range of speakers in all departments such as Operations, Safety, Accounting, and several more.

Quanta Services Senior Vice President Jody Shea spoke along with three other Quanta employees, Jack Dwyer, Jeff Battles and Matt Mikeska.

Entergy’s Director of Transmission Project Management and Construction Dale Oliver spoke about the current Safety culture and why it is and always has been pertinent in this industry.

We also heard from special guest Bill Bosch, who serves as Florida Campus President at Northwest Lineman College. Bill gave us a great overview of the atmosphere at Northwest Lineman College campuses all over the country.

Following the meeting, we hosted a vendor fair where vendors set up booths and visited with other Irby employees. Thank you to Altec, Beyel, Northwest Lineman College, Longfellow Drilling, Red Wing Shoes, Scott Powerline, Yak Access, and Tyndale for your participation. Hope to see you all again next year.

We would also like to thank Scott Powerline for providing our meals during the meeting, and Yak Access for hosting our Social Hour on Wednesday night.

On Thursday, April 13, Irby Construction rolled out the fourth video in its series featuring the “People of Irby.” In this clip, Juan Carlos del Toro, an apprentice lineman for Irby Construction Company shares what makes working at Irby great, from his point of view.

In addition to working outdoors and visiting a variety of new places (he has traveled to job sites in four different states so far), Juan Carlos has a lot of nice things to say about the guys he works within the field and the opportunities he sees ahead of him in his career at Irby.
