Construction Suicide

Construction Suicide Prevention Week sheds light on an undeniably important and difficult issue facing our industry. But the conversation around mental health and suicide cannot stop when the workday ends or the weekend begins. This is an issue that affects our people every day, both on and off the jobsite.

That’s why it’s important to know what resources are available when someone needs support. One of those resources is the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Available 24/7, 988 provides free, confidential and judgment-free support to anyone experiencing a mental health or suicide-related crisis. You can call, text or chat with a trained counselor and connect with someone who can help.

A big part of the st

A big part of the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide in the construction industry is the fear of being seen as weak or unable to handle what you’re facing. The truth is, asking for help and having these conversations takes strength.

Breaking the stigma starts with being willing to talk. It means checking in on the people around us, asking the hard questions, and making it clear that no one has to face their struggles alone. In an industry where we rely on our crews to look out for one another, that same mindset should extend beyond the jobsite.

That’s why Construction Suicide Prevention Week is so important. This initiative works to break the silence around suicide in construction, raise awareness of the challenges facing our industry, and encourage people to start conversations that can make a difference.
